Queen’s LGBT brought a motion to the Student’s Union Council for a LGBT Officer, as an non-Sabbatical Officer in the Union.
Last night, this motion was passed by the Council unamended.
It’s great news that finally Queen’s University Belfast will be brought in line with other Universities across the British Isles.
A Queen’s LGBT Society spokesperson said “I think that this sends out a clear message that deep rooted homophobia will not prevail, and that Queen’s truly has moved into a new era.”

It is with great pleasure that we can announce that Queen’s LGBT Society has won a grant from the Queen’s University Belfast Alumni Annual Fund.
The grant of £3000 will enable us to get training on LGBT issues at the USI’s annual Pink Training Event (this year in Cork), and run a series of events related to sexual health, under the slogan “Let’s Talk About Sex”.
At the minute, these events are still under discussion, but Queen’s LGBT being awarded an Annual Fund grant helps raise our profile within the University that little bit more.
All in all, this year is shaping up to be very exciting for Queen’s LGBT Society!
