NUS-USI are holding a regional Donation not Discrimation day next Thursday, 8th May.
‘Donation Not Discrimination’ is a national campaign run by NUS about the rules that state that gay men cannot give blood.
This campaign urges the National Blood Service (and it’s NI counterpart, the Northern Ireland Blood Transfusion Service) to change their polices regarding this matter.
If you are interested in getting involved, send us an e-mail to find out more to site@qublgbt.org.uk.
To find out more about the campaign, visit the NUS-USI website.

A few reminders about some exciting events happening this week:
Open Your Mind
From Monday – Thursday, NUS-USI in conjunction with Rethink are hosting a fair promoting mental health awareness in the student body. Come visit us in the Student’s Union on the 3rd Floor and you can book in for a free massage, reflexology, aromatherapy, grab a free lunch, get some info about mental health, and bag some cool free stuff! For more info, see www.bebo.com/openyourmind08.
NI LGBT Pub Crawl
Organised by the lovely people at UU, there is a pub crawl on Thursday night, incorporating Dubarry’s, Mynt, Union Street and Kremlin. We are meeting at 9pm in Bar Sub in the Student’s Union, so come along and meet a bunch of new people!
Day of Silence
This Friday sees the annual Day of Silence. For more information, see www.dayofsilence.org.

There will be an AGM on THURSDAY 1ST MAY, at 8PM in the STUDENT’S UNION CLUB ROOM 1 (3rd Floor).
This is your chance to become more involved in the Society. Positions up for grabs are President, Treasurer and Secretary. If you want to know more about what these involve, drop Aaron e-mail at aaron@qublgbt.org.uk.
It also allows us to give you a quick run-down on what’s been happening over the last year, and what we have planned for the year ahead. It’s your chance to influence what we do, what we spend our money on, and how we are run. Plus, it looks great on your CV!
So, if you want to nominate yourself for a position, send Aaron an e-mail aaron@qublgbt.org.uk with a few lines about why you think you’d be good at the job.
It would be great to see as many of you as possible there, so we can get an Executive voted in by majority votes.
And (as if that wasn’t enough!) we’ll be heading out afterwards for what will be the final event of the year!
