Belfast is an up and coming vibrant city with an exciting future. With a colourful past, the scene in Belfast has played a rich and exciting role in the community for everyone, regardless of age, sex and orientation.
Belfast has Four gay bars/clubs which are located in the Cathedral Quarter of the city. Union street, Dubarrys are relaxed and comfortable trendy bars and provide the perfect place to chill out in the afternoon, catch up with friends in the evenings or visit for a pre club drink or two.
Kremlin is Ireland’s largest gay venue and is a lively and popular club which is open 5 days a week. Similarly Mynt is large club and the bar downstairs is open every day with the club upstairs opening at the weekend.
A taxi from Queen’s student village, Elms, to the Cathedral quarter costs around £6 and the society makes regular social outings to the scene to kick back and relax.
There’s plenty to do in Belfast off -scene with a lively alternative and open minded series of venues such as Katy Dalys, Auntie Annies, Stiff Kitten and Laverys, perfect for a night out with no dress code and good music.
It’s not all about the night life. Queerspace offers a range of activities such as Quire, a LGBT choir, and Out and About, a LGBT walking group which takes in different walks across the beautiful countryside every week. Same sex salsa classes are a common and popular weekly event also and are run by various organisations throughout the year.
